What is DIG?

The Dealers Investment Group (DIG) is the political action committee formed by OADA to promote and protect the interests of dealers as they relate to state legislation and governmental regulation. DIG is recognized as the political voice of the retail motor vehicle industry in Ohio. DIG is funded by personal contributions from dealers and their employees.

Why give to DIG?

Unfortunately, money is still a key component of the legislative and political process in Columbus. DIG allows OADA to participate in the process and gives OADA "a seat at the table." DIG funds are used to support candidates who understand and are sympathetic to dealer concerns.

The Ohio legislature and state government can have an enormous impact on dealer operations. It is important that OADA has adequate DIG funds in order to protect the investment dealers have made in their dealerships.

What has DIG done for me?

Listed below are just a few of the many benefits DIG has secured for dealers:

  • Beginning October 1, 1999, documentary fee will increase from $30 to $50

  • Effective calendar year 2002, inventory tax assessment rate will decrease 1% per year for 25 years until tax is eliminated

  • Defeated legislation that would have removed a number of rights currently afforded to dealers under Ohio’s Motor Vehicle Franchise Law

  • Exempted dealers from the Credit Services Organization Act, which require sales transactions regulated under it to be subject to a three day cooling off period

  • Protected dealers’ ability to sell credit-life insurance

  • Secured expected future savings for dealers under Ohio’s electric restructuring legislation

  • Protected dealers from liability within legislation restructuring Ohio’s Lemon Law

  • Passed legislation allowing for the electronic application and transfer of titles

  • Passed legislation giving dealers the ability to sell vehicles while waiting to obtain titles

  • Changed law to permit group rating program for worker’s compensation

  • Protected tax credit for trade-in on new car sales
