In Memory of Warren Babcock

Warren S. Babcock passed away on May 5, 2016. He was born in Eustis, Florida on February 12, 1927 and was the son of Clifford C and Dorothy Spencer Babcock.

Warren was preceded in death by wife of 63 years, Mary Ann (Miller) Babcock.  He is survived by his daughter Cynthia, son Edward, grandchildren Laura, Andrea, Clifford, and Christina, and 5 great grandchildren.

After graduating from Hiram College in 1949, Warren joined his father at Junction Auto Sales located in Chardon, Ohio.  While active as an auto dealer, he served as a trustee for the Ohio Automobile Dealers Association and on the National Dodge Dealer Council, where he was chairman of several committees.  The business was among the first to receive the coveted 5 Star Award from the Chrysler Corporation and is one of the few nationally to continuously receive it.  He retired in 1992 and his son Ed Babcock now serves as the dealer principal of Junction Auto Sales.

Like many auto dealers, Mr. Babcock was highly involved in his community.  He served Geauga County as district chairman of the Boy Scouts, where he was instrumental in bringing the United Way to the County. While he was chairman of the United Way, the Geauga Mental Health Association and the Geauga Transit were established. He served as vice chairman of the Metropolitan Housing Association and as a member of the Geauga Economic Opportunity program. Warren also worked on fundraising committees for the Boy Scouts and the YMCA. He was a member of the Chardon High School Hall of Fame. Since his retirement, Warren and his wife spent most of their time at their home on Fort Myers Beach.
