Upon completion of this training segment, participants will have the tools and knowledge required to:

Improve the time required to successfully close the month in three days by following step-by-step processes throughout the month, the last three days (pre-close) and the first three days of the subsequent month.

How to Quickly Evaluate Your Frozen Capital & Craft an Action Plan for Reducing it

Upon completion of this training segment, participants will have the tools and knowledge required to:

Improve Cash Flow by properly managing and minimizing the six frozen capital categories:

  • Used Vehicle Inventory
  • Parts & Accessories Inventory
  • Contracts in Transit
  • Vehicle Receivable
  • Parts
  • Service & Body Shop Receivable
  • Warranty Claim Receivable

The general ledger balances at month end will be compared to NADA guides to determine if there is frozen capital.

Understanding the Importance of the Cash Gap

Upon completion of this training segment, participants will have the tools and knowledge required to:

Comprehend the concept of the cash gap and how it relates to every transaction in the dealership.

Improve cash flow by stocking the correct mix of inventories as well as by streamlining the receivables collection processes.

He spent several years in public accounting with KPMG prior to entering the retail automobile business. He has 30 years of experience in the retail automotive industry, as a controller, group controller, director of internal audit, director of financial analysis, corporate trainer and area CFO. Steve also has extensive experience in automotive training and consulting to dealer groups both private and public, OEMs and allied industries such as CPA firms, advertising companies and insurance companies. He is a strong believer that in order to be successful, a dealer must have properly trained employees and strong processes.
