Have you ever had a nightmare workers' compensation situation? An employee who is injured at work, and then complications arise? Can't get your employee to communicate or return to work? After returning to work, are there more questions than answers about reasonable accommodation or FMLA? What happens when you have all these issues PLUS the employee has less than stellar performance, or has been a discipline problem in the past?

Join OADA for our annual seminar where we'll work our way through some tough but common workers' compensation issues and HR situations.

Let's talk about your tech, Calamity Jane. What happens when Jane gets injured on the job? Was the injury preventable? How do you make sure that Jane is doing her part to return to work? What steps do you need to follow from an HR perspective?

This seminar will assist dealers in staying up-to-date on current safety issues and best practices. We have several partners joining us to present a comprehensive seminar to you from a variety of angles, which will include dealing with Jane and her injury, to general best practices and requirements, as well as a discussion of some common legal issues and questions dealers often face.

This seminar will fulfill two hours of safety training, as required by the BWC. If you had a workers' compensation claim between 7/1/2017 - 9/30/2018 (the "green" period), you are required to complete two hours of safety training prior to July 1, 2020. Please contact Kirsten Gibson at CareWorks, or DeAnna Zahniser at OADA, to confirm your training requirement.

Session 1:  EHS Practices to Keep Your Employees Safe and Healthy, presented by ComplyNet

Consultants from ComplyNet will join us to discuss the relevant EHS issues your dealership needs to be aware of. Over the course of this two-hour presentation, the ComplyNet team will discuss:

Session 2:  Dealing with Difficult Workers' Compensation Claims

The team from CareWorks will join us for a panel discussion on how to handle employees like Jane who are making the workers' compensation process difficult, and what tools are available to ensure that employees are using the process fairly.

Session 3:  Do's and Don'ts for HR Professionals Involving Workers' Comp Claims and More

Attorneys from Fisher Phillips will discuss the common legal questions that dealers face when dealing with an injured employee both inside and outside the realm of workers' compensation. In addition to common workers' compensation issues, we will be discussing leave accommodations and ADA considerations as well as what things to think about before employee separation.
