OADA to Collect Contributions for Victims of Hurricane Katrina

On August 29 Hurricane Katrina ripped through the South and left thousands without homes, electricity, food or water. We are all greatly saddened to see the devastation caused, but are tremendously heartened and optimistic to have received many calls urging us to create a campaign for financial assistance to aid the victims. Today, we are beginning a statewide effort to raise $1 million to aid the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

We are asking dealers to send their contributions to OADA and we will collectively get the checks to the National Automobile Dealers Charitable Foundation (NADCF) en masse. NADCF is a 501C3 organization which makes all contributions deductible for tax purposes. We are particularly pleased that 100% of the contributions will go to the relief efforts with no administrative costs.

The Executive Management Committee of OADA unanimously approved a “kickstart” contribution of $50,000 from the Association as well as individual contributions of $1,000 from each dealer personally. The executive committee is Gene Stevens ( Findlay ), Rick Germain ( Columbus ), Diane Sauer ( Warren ), and Pete Pannier ( Cincinnati ). NADA Director, Chuck Eddy of Austintown also joined in at that level.

“We really believe our collective efforts can help make a

difference and we hope all dealers and their employees in

Ohio participate in our joint effort. We are also asking our

OADA Trustees to contact the dealers in their districts as

well as their local associations for assistance.”

-Gene Stevens, OADA Chairman

We have always known we have a great group of dealers and dealership employees and have had several inquiries on where they can personally contribute. Share this information with your employees and they can individually send their checks. No amount is too small. Please make checks payable to the NADCF Emergency Relief Fund  and send them to OADA, 655 Metro Place South, Suite 270 , Dublin , Ohio , 43017 or to your local dealer association that will forward them to us.

Thank you for your support.
