Robert L. Germain Sr. passed away quietly at his home in Naples on the evening of June 27, 2008. He was 85 years old. Born on January 25, 1923 in Dearborn , Michigan , Bob graduated form Dearborn High where he earned 12 varsity letters. He attended the University of Virginia and graduated from the University of Michigan . In between, he proudly served in the Pacific Theater of Operations with the United States Navy during World War II. As a result of his service to his country, he received the following awards: The American Campaign Medal with two Battle Stars, the WWII Victory Medal, the Phillipines Liberation Medal, and the United States Navy Unit Commendation Award. After graduation, Bob joined his father, Warren, at Bexley Lincoln-Mercury in Columbus , Ohio where he began a 58 year career as an automobile dealer. He founded what would later become the Germain Motor Company. In 1979, Bob moved to Naples , Florida where he resided until his death and worked every day at Germain Lincoln-Mercury. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; his daughter, Susan Germain Maahs; and son-in-law, Wayne Maahs; three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Germain Jr. and his wife Gail Germain, Stephen Germain and his wife Kim Germain, and Richard Germain and his wife Elizabeth Germain. He was also the proud grandfather of 13; and great grandfather of 12. Bob Germain Sr. will be missed greatly by his family, many friends, and fellow employees. 

       

A viewing will be held on Monday, June 30, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. at the NAPLES MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME at 525 111t Avenue North. The service will be held at the United Methodist Church on Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at 11 a.m. For friends and family in Ohio , a reception will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 from 5-9 p.m. at the Columbus Country Club on East Broad Street . In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The Boys and Girls Club of Naples.
