Auto Dealers Association Donates Safety Training Equipment to University Emergency Physicians

On Thursday, July 12, 2007 the Ohio Automobile Dealers Association (OADA) in conjunction with the National Automobile Dealers Charitable Foundation (NADCF) presented a four pack of Rescusci Anne CPR training units to the University Emergency Physicians, Inc.  in   Cincinnati , Ohio .

In receiving the units, which are essential for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training, Dr. Donald Locasto said, “If the right kind of treatment can be given to a victim in distress within seconds of being stricken, the chances are good that the life can be saved.”  Common situations that require CPR are often related to an airway loss that leads to respiratory or cardiac arrest.  Conditions are severe asthma, seizures and a variety of respiratory conditions and other types of traumatic conditions like head injury, choking and near-drowning situations.

“Since there is increasing involvement of Americans who are being trained in CPR, there has been a noticeable increase in survivors,” Dr. Locasto said.  “Many cases prove the training received by citizens has helped many victims who otherwise would have died, but instead these victims have been saved and have returned to normal activities.”

In 2007, other CPR donations across Ohio include:  Coshocton City Schools in Coshocton, Ashland County Red Cross in Ashland , Licking Memorial Hospital Community Training Center in Newark and Ashtabula County Department of Job and Family Services in Ashtabula .

NADCF has donated more than 3,600 CPR manikins and automated external defibrillator (AED) training units worth over $2 million to civic and safety organizations since the Foundation was established in 1975.  Approximately 1.9 million people have been trained on the units donated by NADCF.  NADCF is part of the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) in McLean , Virginia .  NADA includes 20,000 franchised new-car and truck dealers in the country.  OADA represents over 1,000 of those dealers in Ohio .
