In April 2020 franchised vehicle dealerships began applying for Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans to keep their employees on payroll and off of unemployment during the COVID-19 related economic downturn. Now that PPP borrowers have spent most (or all) of their loan proceeds, dealers are now focused on applying for loan forgiveness.
