Year: 2020
Original Air Date: August 13, 2020
Presented by OADA, featuring Melanie Webber of Fisher Phillips
As a result of employees getting back into the workforce and the economy beginning to improve, dealerships are now navigating sick leave requests from employees who have tested positive for COVID-19, experiencing symptoms of COVID-19. This requires employers to be familiar with the Families First Coronavirus Response Act ("FFCRA") and whether or not an employee is eligible for paid leave. This will become an even more prevalent issue as schools discuss their reopening plans and we begin to enter cold and flu season.
Join OADA as we welcome Melanie Webber, a partner at Fisher Phillips, as she discusses the FFCRA and other paid leave obligations employers might encounter during this pandemic. Questions we will discuss include:
- How does the FFCRA impact employees with school-aged children?
- What do we need to do if one of our employees has tested positive or is caring for someone who has tested positive?
- If an employee has been exposed to someone who has tested positive but isn't experiencing symptoms, what do we do?
- Do I have to comply with the Governor's Travel Advisory? What do I do in order to comply?
- Should I pay employees even if they do not qualify for FFCRA or other paid leave?
- And other important questions
