Staying Compliant in the Digital Age - Reviewing Internet Advertising Guidelines

Year: 2020

Original Air Date - Tuesday, January 21, 2020

Presented by OADA with Stockamp & Brown, LLC

According to NADA's 2018 data report, franchised dealers spent over $5.6 billion on advertising in 2018 and for the second year in a row internet advertising expenditures topped all other advertising spending by dealerships combined! As dealerships are spending more and more of their advertising budget on internet advertisements, regulators are increasingly paying attention to online advertisements and whether they comply with advertising laws. If you are using the internet and social media outlets to increase the visibility of your advertisements, it is time to make sure that you are capturing the attention of potential customers and not the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) or Ohio Attorney General (AG).

Join Jessica Dury, Senior Associate with Stockamp & Brown, LLC and Matt Chacey, Staff Counsel at OADA as they delve into the internet advertising guidelines and how you can make sure your online advertisements comply with the guidelines. Over the course of the 60-minute webinar, they will be discussing important questions such as:

  • What types of online advertisements give rise to FTC and AG investigations and complaints?
  • Can I offer a special internet sales price?
  • How should I advertise rebates?
  • Can I advertise that our dealership helps a consumer build credit?
  • How do I handle customer reviews?
  • What are the concerns with social media marketing?
  • How should I advertise a special warranty program?

This webinar is available at no cost for OADA members. Non-members will be charged a $50 connection fee.
