MASSILLON, OH

SEPTEMBER 6- The Perry Township Fire Department was greatly enhanced last week when the Waikem Auto Family, in partnership with the Ohio Automobile Dealers Association (OADA), presented a Resusci Anne QCPR Torso training unit.

The Perry Township Fire Department is comprised 3 Fire Stations that provide fire and EMS services to nearly 28,000 residents spanning approximately 23 square miles. All 63 personnel are, at a minimum, certified as Firefighters, Emergency Medical Technicians or Paramedics. Department instructors review the American Heart Association guidelines regularly and re-certify all staff every 2 years through both classroom and hands-on instruction. The Perry Township Fire Department currently owns two similar units.

Perry Township Fire Department's Deputy Chief of Operations and Director of Training Larry Sedlock comments on the Waikem Auto Family's donation: "The cost of training aids is very expensive, however, with donations like the one from Waikem Auto Family we are able to stretch our budget a little further. Therefore, we are extremely gracious of their generosity in providing our department with this CPR training manikin as well as all they do to make our township a better place."

The Waikem Auto Family is located on the Waikem Auto Mile between Canton and Massillon. This family-owned dealership has been run by the Waikem family for more than 75 years. Brothers Chip, David and Doug Waikem oversee the operations. Third generation Waikem family members George, Chris, Craig and Adrian play a significant part in the daily operations. Waikem offers new and used Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mitsubishi and Subaru vehicles, as well as a full service department. Visit www.waikem.com to learn more.

Waikem Auto Family's Adrian Waikem, George Waikem II and Jeff Russ, along with OADA's Chris Haas, presented the training unit to Deputy Chief of Operations Larry Sedlock, Captain Rachel Berkely and Firefighter Jacob Butcher at the fire station on September 6th.
