Ohio Commercial Activity Tax (CAT)

Back to the Basics

OADA Webinar

Register for our webinar on April 21, 11am-noon

We always know when dealers are preparing their CAT tax returns, because our phones start to ring. We've found that a lot of employees want to "double-check" and verify they're doing things right. Keeping track of what is considered taxable and what isn't taxable can be confusing. We've designed a "Back to the Basics" one hour webinar as a refresher course for dealership employees.

Ohio Instituted the Commercial Activity Tax (CAT) on July 1, 2005 replacing the outgoing Corporate Franchise and Tangible Personal Property taxes. The CAT is an annual tax imposed on the privilege of doing business in Ohio, measured by gross receipts from business activities in Ohio. If you are a dealer with Ohio gross receipts in excess of $150,000 annually, you should be currently filing a CAT return. Please join us for this webinar and learn about the laws and regulations that govern the CAT to ensure that you are complying with the law and not paying more tax than required.

OADA is pleased to bring you this program with Mark Rossetti from Schneider Downs. Specifically, this webinar will include a discussion on the following topics:

  • What is a gross receipt?
  • What are the common deductions available to dealerships?
  • How do I determine what sales are attributable to Ohio?
  • Should I be filing separate company, or combined or consolidated?
  • What happens if I'm audited?

Attendees of this webinar will walk away with a better understanding of the CAT as it relates to retail automobile dealerships. Registration fee for OADA members is $25 per connection, with a $50 charge per connection for non-member dealers. The webinar is scheduled from 11am-noon on April 21. Take an hour out of your day to fine-tune your CAT knowledge. Register today!

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
