The suspense is over - the Department of Labor has announced the revised Overtime Rule, which will set the minimum salary threshold for the Fair Labor Standard Act's white-collar exemptions at $684 per week, or $35,568 per year. The Rule, which will expand overtime pay obligations to an estimated 1.3 million additional workers, will take effect on January 1, 2020. What do OADA members need to know about this breaking news? It also will create a new wave of publicity and heighten your employees' questions about how they are paid and, specifically, whether they are paid in compliance with federal and state wage and hour laws, including overtime obligations.

OADA is pleased to announce an updated educational and training webinar, What Do the New Overtime Rules Mean For Your Dealership? This program will take place on November 19, 2019, from 11:00 a.m. to noon. OADA's outside employment firm, Fisher Phillips, will be discussing how the New Overtime Rules affect dealerships in Ohio.

Wage and hour issues continue to be one of the main areas of non-compliance for U.S. companies, including OADA members. The Department of Labor and plaintiff's lawyers are creating havoc for businesses due to the difficulty of complying with these complex regulations - and the new Rules will create more confusion, publicity, and, undoubtedly, more legal claims.

The OADA attorneys receive calls on the legal hotline on a daily basis regarding HR issues, and these calls will only increase with the new DOL Rules:  "What positions in my dealership are exempt from overtime?" "Do I have to record accurate hours worked for my sales people?" Added to these questions, is the newest question:  "How do the new DOL Rules impact the exemptions that already apply to my dealerships?" And, "How does it impact who is exempt in my dealership?" These are the questions this webinar will address head on and in the most practical way to minimize potential uninsured and costly exposure for your dealership.

The good news:  The new DOL Rules also provide dealerships an opportunity to review existing rules and ensure compliance with the existing counter intuitive wage and hour rules that continue to haunt OADA members.

This webinar, presented by Rich Millisor of Fisher Phillips, LLP, will focus on all of these issues and more, including:

  • Will the New DOL Ruled (2.0) survive?
  • What are the New DOL Rules?
  • How do the New DOL Rules impact the existing dealership exemptions to the overtime requirements (state and federal)?
  • Do the New DOL Rules change how I pay my technicians, parts persons and sales persons?
  • What about managers, office staff, F&I, BDC, and service advisors?

Please join us on November 19, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. for this hour long webinar that will address these and other matters directly relevant to your dealership.

There is no cost for OADA member dealers to attend. Non-members will be charged a $50 connection fee. Register Here!
