OADA President Zach Doran and Vice President of Legal Government Relations Joe Cannon, along with Andy O'Donnell from the Valley Truck Dealership Group recently traveled to Washington DC for the NADA/ATD annual industry fly-in. The focus of the visit was to push Ohio's Congressional delegation to support NADA/ATD backed legislation (H.R. 2946/S. 3052) that would repeal the Federal Excise Tax on new heavy-duty trucks. Meetings were held with Congressmen Jim Renacci and Dave Joyce, as well as with staff from Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur's Office, all of whom have Valley dealerships in their districts. Zach and Andy also visited with Ohio Senator Rob Portman and Congressman Steve Stivers.  Congressman Stivers is now a co-sponsor of the legislation, joining Ohio Congressman Bob Gibbs who had previously put his name on the bill as a result of outreach from Ohio Truck Dealer President Craig Young from Young Truck Sales in Canton.

Truck dealers are encouraged to contact their members of Congress to urge support of this legislation.
